Now you KEN jam with your friends after school

Do you play Kendama? Have you ever wanted to try Kendama?

Well now there is a place for you to practice and play Kendama with people who share the same passion.

The where is Room 112 and the when is after school on Tuesdays.

No experience is necessary. You don’t even need to own a Kendama. There are extras available if needed.

Mr. Hooton, the Kendama king himself, says, “Kendama is something that catches on when you see and try it. You have success and want more. I think the main reason that it is becoming popular is that we have some nice students that advocate for Kendama.”

What happens at the meetings?

Well, there’s meet and greet, speed ladders (where everyone races through a set of tricks), trick tips ( where someone that knows a trick talks through how to do it and tips learned), games of KEN (like pig in basketball where someone sets a trick and then others try to match it), jam (everyone just plays sometimes trying different Kendama and tricks), and more.

Mr. Hooton says, “I have seen marked improvement. I have to go home and practice to keep up with the club.”

Kendama is a great way to improve hand-eye coordination, balance, and reflex.  Not to mention it’s a lot of fun!

So stop by Room 112 on Tuesdays after school and jam.
