Students and staff bid farewell to Officer Modrak
In the morning hours of Wednesday, April 12, Dr. J came on the announcements and asked that students and staff quietly make their way to the main gym. It was not a spirit assembly nor a volleyball game– it was a surprise goodbye party for the beloved Officer Modrak.
Modrak had earlier announced that he is resigning as the school police officer and will be taking a job at the Bureau of Mines in South Park.
He had initially requested to make a quiet departure, but Dr. J, along with other faculty, felt as though he deserved a more comprehensive goodbye.
The mass of students on the gym floor held signs and cheered when Officer Modrak entered, and listened while he said a few words about how thankful he was to have been a part of Bethel Park High School.
After the crowd dispersed, some students and staff came to say goodbye individually. Officer Modrak acknowledged that it wouldn’t be easy to go when friends began to talk about how much they would miss him when he leaves.
Check out some pics of the event below and be sure to thank Officer Modrak for his service to Bethel Park High School!

I graduated in 2003 and Officer Modrak has made a incredible impact on my life. From keeping an eye on me since I was a kid to teaching me unwanted lessons in high school, that I surely appreciate now. He is a kind soul and I am glad to have him a part of my life!
Thank you for all your hard work and what you did for the school.
