News of a trip to Iceland is erupting
BPHS students, friends, and family currently have until Friday, March 10 to take advantage of the opportunity to travel to Iceland during their 2018 summer break!
The “ice and fire” experience is a once-in-a lifetime experience to hike through volcanic ash, climb ice glaciers, soak in the hot springs, and learn about the history of the Vikings while getting to experience Icelandic culture first-hand.
The trip is through a program called WorldStrides, an international educational travel program made for students to engage and experience the world around us. Although this is not a school-sponsored trip, BPHS Science teacher Mr. O’Brien will be the group chaperon who will be joining the Iceland adventure.
During the trip, a WorldStrides-certified Course Leader who is a resident of Iceland will be available and with the tour group 24 hours every day. The trip itself is six days long and includes a packed-full schedule of hiking, learning, and having fun! Some events that take place include coastal birdwatching, walking in the footsteps of Vikings, visiting Iceland’s first national park, learning about geothermal energy, watching an active geyser erupt, being able to drink from fresh waterfalls, and enjoy soaking in the famous Blue Lagoon.
The trip is set for departure Saturday, June 23, 2018 and will return June 29, 2018. This week long trip includes round-trip transportation, all meals, admissions fees for sightseeing, all accommodations, and much more. Click here for the trip itinerary.
For any questions regarding the Iceland 2018 trip, please feel free to contact Mr. O’Brien during the school day or at [email protected]. Again, the deadline to sign-up for or show genuine interest in the trip is Friday, March 10.
