DECA opens Beans and Berry school store
The new school store, Beans and Berry, opened to students and staff on Friday, May 6. The school store is located in the cafeteria next to the Activities Office.
The idea of the school store has always been there since we used to have one at the old school. Mrs. Smoller’s 9th period marketing class liked the idea of a school store the best for being involved in making their own business.
Students had no issues with getting the store approved. A group of students went to Dr. J and proposed the idea.
“The store will be provided for students and staff to experience,” Mrs. Smoller said when asked what she hopes to accomplish with the store.
Some of the items you will see in the school store are hot & iced coffee, naked fruit juice and healthy snacks.
The store will cover DECA funds for trips and other things they need for competitions. If the store goes well they plan to buy equipment since they are currently borrowing equipment from other people.
The store is going to continue as planned but they do have some improvements they want to make. They plan to make smoothies from scratch, but then that comes down to health regulations that need to be met, so they are currently selling Naked juice smoothies. They hope to make smoothies form scratch by fall.
