Students elect Zilcosky and other SGA officers
On Wednesday, April 6, students elected 2016-2017 SGA officers Zoe Zilcosky for president, Kyle Coplan for vice-president, and Rachel McClaine for secretary.
The race for the presidency was a close call with only a 10 vote margin of victory for Zilcosky.
When asked what her first thoughts were when she found out that she won the position of president, Zilcosky said, “Sweet, woo hoo!”
In terms of what are her plans as president, Zilcosky said, “I’m not going to publicly announce my plans at this time.”
However, the role of the president involves: “Planning, organizing, and carrying out responsibilities associated with my role,” Zilcosky said.
When asked what inspired her to run, Zilcosky said, “People told me I would be a good president!”
Other SGA positions (excluding president, vice-president, and secretary) will be decided within the following month as well.
Applications for executive board are due on Monday, April 18 and interviews will be conducted the same week to choose the new members. Anyone is permitted to apply for executive board, but the number of positions has been cut down to five in order to make room for the new freshmen senators.
Senator applications will be out on April 25 and elections will be on May 11. There will be five senators elected per grade, including freshmen for the first time.
