Five inducted into Great Alumni Hall of Fame

Five BPHS alumni were inducted into the Bethel Park Great Alumni Hall of Fame on Friday, Jan. 22 during the halftime of the boys’ basketball game. The 2016 inductees include: Dr. Timothy Michael Campbell, William R. Flinn, Naomi Halas, Richard D. “Dick” Jewell, and Gilbert L. Smith, Jr.

First, from 6-7 p.m., the five inductees, NHS members, administrators, family, and friends met, mingled, and had dinner in the LGI room.

At 7 p.m., Dr. Jansante spoke about the origin of the Great Alumni Hall of Fame. He discussed the criterion for induction, the selection process, and past inductees. In conclusion, he thanked NHS and its volunteers, Judy Daley, Lynne P, and Mr. Lorenzi for their hard work in organizing the event.

Then, Mr. Lorenzi went up and introduced each of the inductees after reading the corresponding biography of their achievements. Find each complete biography here.

The inductees then came up and received his or her take-home plaque and a commemorative pin. Each inductee then said a few words about their inspiration, career, and insights. Essentially, each one said that he or she had appreciated BPSD for setting a proper foundation on which to grow.

After each inductee was formally recognized, they went out to the display cases in the lobby for the unveiling of the plaques. The TVs were also running through each person’s biography.

Finally, the inductees were announced during halftime of the boys’ basketball game against Upper Saint Clair. The inductees came out to center court after having their biographies read, where they were draped with the GAHOF medals.
