Physics students take on Kennywood
Tuesday, May 19 was the much-anticipated Education Day at Kennywood. For many juniors, seniors, and even some sophomores in physics classes at BPHS and other schools all over Western Pennsylvania, this meant a day of excitement at the amusement park.
As soon as the students arrived, a great day of learning began. Walking into the park, in front of Kiddie Land, many students were delighted to find a real life penguin named Tribby on display for guests for a short period of time. Around the corner, exhilarating robot fights were going on.
Students had projects and assignments to complete, many of them focusing on one or more rides. The trip really gave students a hands-on approach to the lessons they had been learning all year in physics classes.
For honors physics teacher Mr. Qualk, this is one of his favorite days of the year. This year he was delighted to have ridden more rides than ever before, including the exhilarating Skycoaster.
