On March 29, 2012 the Bethel Park High School, held a rocking string concert. The concert called “Electrify your Strings,” was the first event in the new High School Auditorium. Bridgid Bibbens performed with the Bethel Park High School Orchestras conducted by Mrs. Glover.
The group consisted of the freshman orchestra, concert orchestra, and symphonic orchestra. The group played music from The Beatles, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, and others. Besides the music, there also was a raffle where a painted cello (by Shelby Solomon) and a crafted tuxedo cello (by Matt Sartore) were won by members in the audience. Also, an electric viper violin was given away. The Bethel Park Community Foundation was generous enough to donate electric instruments to the school as well.
Shelby Solomon said that the inspiration came while sitting in a basement with Matt Sartore listening to music. The painting then was created as a result of the “free flowing, moving” sound that music takes. The fantastic and comical tuxedo cello was inspired from a similar idea they found on the internet.
Bridgid Bibbens is a renowned electric violinist, who has performed with famous musicians around the world. She has performed with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christina Aguilera, Tommy Lee, and John Mayer, to name a few. The concert went exceedingly well and the crowd was vivacious. Even Dr. J had the rocking spirit.
