On Oct. 16, the English singer and songwriter Liam Payne passed away in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 31-year-old passed away from falling or jumping from a third-floor hotel balcony at CasaSur Palermo Hotel where he was staying.
According to reports, there was “a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”
He may have been acting erratically before the fall.
Liam James Payne was born on August 29, 1993 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. Liam was the youngest of two sisters named Nicola and Ruth.
In 2008, at just 14 years old, Liam auditioned for The X Factor and performed Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon.” Two years later, in 2010, Liam auditioned again and sang Michael Bublé’s version of “Cry Me a River.” Liam failed to proceed to the “Boys” category.
Shortly after that, Simon Howell, an X Factor Judge, paired Liam with four other boys in the band. The other boys’ names were Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. They ended up naming the band One Direction.
One Direction first dropped their debut single called “What Makes You Beautiful” in 2011 which was an overnight success.
In the six years that the members were together, they have made five back-to-back albums including “Up All Night.,” “Take Me Home,” “Midnight Memories,” “Four” and “Made in the A.M..”
In the six years of being a band, Liam Payne and the other has won 242 awards and has been nominated for 366 awards including seven Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, seven American Music Awards (including Artist of the Year in 2014 and 2015), and 28 Teen Choice Awards. Along with awards, One Direction went on four World Tours performing at stadiums like San Siro Milan, Italy; Wembley Stadium, Wembley London, and even Heinz Field.
In August of 2015, One Direction Split and went their separate ways and began their own Solo Career. In 2017, Liam Payne dropped his solo single, called “Strip That Down.” Since then he has worked with many other composers including, Zedd, J Balvin, Rita Ora, Jonas Blue, and many other well-known artists.
Along with his passing, many artists are paying his respect to him and his family.
