Hawk Eye staff scrambles to determine the meaning of ‘covfefe’
At 12:06 a.m. Wednesday morning, President Trump tweeted a cryptic message from his personal account, @realDonaldTrump.
The tweet began with the fragment, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” and stopped at that, not to be deleted for six more hours.
Many believe President Trump meant to say coverage, and had a small typo.
However, staff writers at Hawk Eye have other ideas as what to ‘covfefe’ might mean.
Senior Zoe Zilcosky said she thinks it means “gooder than the best.” She did not want to expand on that statement.
Junior Tessa Helfer said she thinks he means “confetti… because he wants to celebrate… possibly at the press conference?”
Another junior, Kara Brunner said the word might mean coffee, but after reading the tweet completely she decided it must be coverage.
After the post was deleted, Trump made light of the situation by tweeting, “Who can figure out the true meaning of “covfefe” ??? Enjoy!”
Hopefully, the Hawk Eye staff will be the ones to figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ and spread the light of truth across our puzzled nation.
