Student Spotlight: Tommy Smith

Tommy Smith is a junior this year at BPHS. He participates in DECA, and up until his freshman year, he was a star volleyball player and an adequate basketball player.

In Tommy’s 8th-grade year, some called him “The Volley God” because of his undisputed skills. Unfortunately, that is where his career tragically ended.

Tommy suffered a knee injury and had to get his third knee surgery effectively ending his volleyball career.

When asked about this, he says “IT IS WHAT IT IS”.

Since his athletic career abruptly ended, Tommy spends his time in the classroom earning a 4.0 GPA.

In his spare time, you can find Tommy getting that bread working at Giant Eagle, playing video games, or winning on the court at Simmons Park.

Tommy has a special needs dog named Cash, a normal RED lobster named Larry, and is the brother of alumna Natalie Smith.

Tommy’s biggest inspiration is Isaiah Thomas.
