Volunteering at the Haunted Courtyard: a firsthand account
On Saturday, October 15, I volunteered at the Haunted Courtyard.
The courtyard was open from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.; however, it closed early because people stopped going through.
To volunteer, I arrived at 5 p.m., because I needed to find out where I was working, get my makeup done, and put on my costume.
I signed up to work at the asylum beforehand, but you can just show up, and they will put you wherever they need somebody.
When I arrived, I went to Room 108 where high school students were doing makeup. They would do things such as, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and much more. Working in the asylum, I had two cuts on my face, and one on my neck.
To get a costume, you go to Room 402, and if there’s a costume for your part you will get one. In the asylum I was a nurse, so I got a scrub shirt.
At around 6:50 p.m., I went to my spot, and waited for the first group to come through. There were a couple other people in my room, so we would switch around our spots sometimes.
About only 30 people came through, so we had a lot of free time in between groups. When there wasn’t any people coming through, I would talk to other people in my room, or I would walk around with my friends.
Working at the Haunted Courtyard was a great experience, and I highly recommend that you volunteer.
