Album of the Week: American Beauty/ American Psycho

The world has a lot of artists, a lot of music, a lot of releases. So why not review an album a week?

Album: American Beauty/American Psycho

Band: Fall Out Boy

Release Date: January 20, 2015

After Fall Out Boy broke up in 2010, the much anticipated 2013 album Save Rock And Roll blew everyone away. So when the band announced a new album for January, 2015, it was expected to be mind-blowing.

The first single was a track titled “Centuries,” and from my point of view is flat out amazing. It starts with a soft guest vocalist, and then radio static leads you into a pop rock hit with intense vocals and build up.

The rest of the album ranges anywhere from ’80s radio pop to ’90s R&B. Tracks like “Uma Thurman” and “Immortals” provide an exciting poppy song, while tracks like “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “Jet Pack Blues” show the tender, meaningful side of FOB.

The song “Immortals” was featured on the soundtrack for the Disney movie Big Hero 6.

Unfortunately, the album was leaked about a week before release, but obviously that didn’t affect sales. The album reached the top of the charts within hours of release.

An album like this can easily be be rated as a 4 out of 5 stars.
