Student Government is obviously a driving force here at BPHS. From Senior Mentor Day to Spirit Week, this committee has got it going on. A huge part of the Student Government year has just passed with Homecoming, and there is much more to come.
Angelina Hernley, our previous president lead our school to new and exciting things last year, but who is the new head honcho you may ask? Sarah Fullerton has taken over for the 2012-2013 school year and is ready to rock and roll.
When asking Sarah about her life, she says that it has been very chaotic. She is heavily involved in her activities here at BPHS such as Ways and Means and of course, SGA. Additionally, Sarah works at the BP Rapid Wash, so if you’re looking to make your car as shiny as Jay-Z’s, then she’s the girl for you. Even with all of her business, she makes time for her presidential duties.
So far, Sarah thinks this year’s student government is great. She says, “This year’s Homecoming was the best one yet!” She gives a big thanks to the committee on their great job. Even with the crunch for time this year, the committee pulled off a flawless event.
Sarah’s got some big plans for this school year. She wants the entire school to be as involved as possible. “I think it’s super important that every student can have his or her voice heard,” Sarah says. She strongly believes that the best way for our school to have fun is for everyone to participate.
Sarah also has some new things up her sleeve. A new committee called “Random Acts of Kindness” has been added to the SGA repetoire this year. Look out for some “kindness” sprinkled throughout the school as the year goes on.
Another thing Sarah would like to stress is the importance of Homeroom Reps. These reps are SGA’s way of communicating with the rest of the school. Sarah urges everyone to get involved. She wants to see you guys going all out for the next tie dye Tuesday and superhero day. If you’re not up there playing limbo during lunch, Sarah thinks you should be. She says, “If we all participate and have pride in our school, the year will be 100 times more awesome.”
If you have any great, fantastic ideas for SGA this year, Sarah is in the activities office during 9th period everyday. She is dedicated to making this school year a wonderful experience for everyone, so don’t be afraid to go up to her and chat!
