Over the past couple of months, the Republican GOP candidates have been traveling the country campaigning to get the Party’s nomination. Every candidate has gotten the fair amount of press that they deserve, except for one man. That man is Dr. Ron Paul. There is a perfectly good reason for all of this too. He is a direct threat to the status quo that our diminishing government has come to know and love.
There are many remarkable things that Dr. Paul has done over the years that prove him to be the clear cut champion in this race.
First, he is the only candidate who served in the military. He spent 5 years in the Air Force as a captain. Every other candidate in the race has either dodged the draft or did not serve. Therefore, Ron Paul is the only candidate suited to be Commander-in-chief.
Mitt Romney, for example, was at once a young man attending Stanford University. He criticized anti-war protesters, but when it was his time to go off over-seas, he was given a pass because he had religious obligation to be a missionary in a French palace.
Paul is also the only candidate who has a career in politics that had a consistent voting track-record. As a conservative, he never voted to raise the national debt because we’re already trillions in debt. Never once did he think about personal gain to allow his vote to be influenced by outside resources.
Senator Rick Santorum, conversely, supported men like Arlen Specter for personal gain. There were also many occasions in which Mr. Santorum decided to go off course in his beliefs. He voted to pass No Child Left Behind, which is an act that increased the federal budget for education by 10 billion dollars. He then runs for President of the United States as a fiscally conservative republican. Wait what? There were also many other instances when the Senator decided his vote was appropriate to spend more. That does not check out when the idea is to spend less, to get rid of our awful debt.
Now we get to the best quality of the Paul campaign, his foreign policy. One of our largest places in spending is in our military. We spend money and lives every year in the Middle East. Instead of having all of our men overseas protecting our freedom and national security, why don’t we put them to better use here on our home turf? Here they can much better protect our liberties which our slowly but surely being stolen away from us. By having over 300 bases around the globe, we are sticking our feet where they do not need to be. We are no longer protecting our liberties and freedoms, but nation building and going after our specific interests instead. Under Ron Paul, our troops would be where they are supposed to be.
As if what Dr. Ron Paul does is not astonishing enough, he has been doing all of his campaigning from individual donations from citizens and troops. While other candidates have giant companies in their back pockets, Dr. Paul is doing the real hard work necessary to win a presidential election.
Yes, Ron Paul is a threat to the status quo imposed by our unfaithful government, but he is the best man for the people of this nation.
