Netflix releases new hit: “The Umbrella Academy”
Netflix recently released another hit entitled “The Umbrella Academy.” Based on the comics by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, the story is a unique blend of superheroes, family drama, and science fiction.
In the comics and TV show, 43 children are born on the same day to mothers who weren’t pregnant when the day began. An eccentric billionaire Reginald Hargreeves adopts seven of those children. Each child is gifted with supernatural abilities and trained to be a crime-fighting machine. However, the story picks up just after Reginald Hargreeves dies and the estranged siblings are reunited at his funeral. The audience watches the siblings work through their relationship issues while a mystery unfolds.
The show stars a blend of accomplished actors such as Ellen Page and Mary J. Blige as well as a few fresh faces such as Emmy Raver-Lampman and David Castaneda.
“The Umbrella Academy” also features a fantastic soundtrack that helps to drive the story and create a unique tone. The lead song is a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “A Hazy Shade of Winter” sung by Gerard Way featuring Ray Torio.
“The Umbrella Academy” is a unique show that leaves audiences intrigued for the next adventure and wanting more. It’s different from other superhero plots and a lot of fun for a wide variety of people.
