Album of the Week: Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit

Album: Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit

Artist: Courtney Barnett

Release date: March 20, 2015

This new album is just a blast to the past. The 27-year-old Australian artist has released her first official album, and her lyrics are quite amazing.

The album was released last week, and was introduced to many four out of five stars and eight of ten ratings.

The tracks themselves range in diversity, anywhere from tight, structured tunes to biting guitar tracks.

You could easily get a Bob Dylan sort of vibe from something like this.

It’s laid back and  lyrical, and the words just have a way of speaking to you in a personal sort of setting. Barnett talks about her own pains, finds easy ways into mundane subjects, and breaks down intellectual barriers through simple stories.

My personal favorite tracks would have to be “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To the Party” and “Debbie Downer.”

Though this isn’t my style of music, I could easily find a way to give this album four-and-a-half out of five stars.
