Artist of the Week: Big Chocolate

With electronic music quickly becoming the most popular genre of music in the world, upcoming artist Big Chocolate is a premier player.

Big Chocolate, the stage name of Cameron Agron, is an electronic music producer and DJ from Laguna Hills, California.  He began making music in 2006, as a part of the death metal band Disfiguring the Goddess.

The musical style is unique in a creative electronic music scene.  Based in the broad spectrum that is electronic dance music, Big Chocolate incorporates elements of trap, drum and bass, electronica, and dubstep into his music.  Slight elements of Agron’s metal past is in the electronic music, namely the faster drum beats and patterns.  The best way to describe the musical style is experimental electronic.

In 2009, Agron released his first extended play under the name Big Chocolate, titled CMA.

In 2012, Big Chocolate released his second album, Red Headed Locc, and gained a larger notoriety in the electronic music scene.

On the Clean extended play, which was released in 2013, it incorporated more experimental elements into the sound.  It takes influence from traditional cultural music.  Also, its use of acoustic sounds is uncommon in electronic dance music.

Big Chocolate was featured on the Skullcandy stage on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour.  Also, Big Chocolate played on the Spotify stage on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour.

While being an electronic music artist, Big Chocolate has toured the country with popular metal and post-hardcore bands including Dance Gavin Dance and In Fear and Faith.

Big Chocolate has also done electronic remixes for popular metal and alternative bands including Asking Alexandria, Breathe Carolina, and Blessthefall.

Big Chocolate is a going to be on the rise in these next couple years, at the forefront of alternative electronic dance music.
