Musicians hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark have come together to form one of the fastest rising acts in alternative rock. New Politics is the creation of singer David Boyd and guitarist Soren Hansen. The band is gaining massive popularity throughout North America and Europe.
The band illustrates an energetic musical style. The combination of various genres including alternative rock, pop punk, dance rock, and indie rock creates a sound that makes one dance around.
The band gained their initial popularity boost by submitting two songs “Stress” and “Money” to a Danish National Radio airplay competition.
In 2009, the band signed with major music label RCA.
In 2010, New Politics released their first studio album titled New Politics. Single from the album “Yeah Yeah Yeah” gained popularity in the American alternative music scene. The single would go on to be featured in commercials for Dell and video game Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.
Their sophomore release from the band came in 2013, titled A Bad Girl in Harlem. The first single and stand out track from the album “Harlem” garnered much attention. The song’s high energy dance rock and punk rock combination is completely infectious. It would eventually go on to be featured in video game NHL 2014, and in a trailer for 2013 Disney movie Frozen.
Another single from A Bad Girl in Harlem is “Tonight You’re Perfect” is a great alternative rock song. The band would perform the song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
New Politics opened for Fall Out Boy on their spring 2013 Save Rock and Roll tour. They are also opening for Fall Out Boy on the upcoming summer 2014 tour titled “Monumentour”. The band also opened for pop artist Pink on select dates during her The Truth About Love tour. They have also played at South by Southwest and the San Diego Comic Con, and were a part of the Dew Tour.
New Politics has hit the ground running, and will be running for a long while.
