The modern melting pot of contemporary music, Bad Rabbits, blends multiple cultures and genres to create a unique musical experience. More than just a combination of funk, rock, rhythm and blues, and indie pop; the members of the band are of Indian, Argentinean, and West African descent. A unique blend of different styles and backgrounds creates music that is not like anything else in music today.
The band hails from Boston, Massachusetts and formed in 2007. They met while attending Northeastern University and Audio Institute in Boston, Ma.
All members of Bad Rabbits originally played in the bands The Eclectic Collective and Irepress. Which in 2007 members from both bands reworked and named the new band Bad Rabbits.
The first major release by the band was the Stick Up Kids EP, which was released in 2009. The EP spawned a few hits in the Northeastern alternative music scene including “Stick Up Kids”, “Can’t Back Down”, and “She Bad”.
The band then released the American Love LP in 2013. Singles “We Can Roll” and “Can’t Fool Me” garnered a lot of popularity.
They have toured with plenty of popular artists. The list includes Paramore, Tegan and Sara, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, The Maine, and Umphrey’s McGee. They are noted for often touring with bands that are outside of their genre.
The lead singer, Dua Boayke, was featured on a live television performance with Gym Class Heroes on New Years Eve 2011.
They played on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour. They are also set to play the whole summer on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour.
Bad Rabbits won two award from the Boston Music Awards in 2013 including Artist of the Year, and Pop/R&B Artist of the Year.
2014 should prove monumental for the upcoming Bad Rabbits.
