The pop punk playground that is Walnut Creek, California has produced one of the best punk rock bands to come on to the scene in quite some time. The Story So Far is the ringleader of a new wave of pop punk, one less focused on the idealized image created by Fall Out Boy and Paramore, and focused more on the roots of punk rock.
Formed in 2007 by a group of five friends, and while they were all in high school, the band strives on the philosophy “you only deserve what you earn.” In fact, in the song “High Regard” off of their first album, Under Soil and Dirt, singer Parker Cannon said, “You don’t deserve what you haven’t earned.”
The Story So Far are signed to Pure Noise records, a growing independent label based in Berkeley, California. On Pure Noise, the band has released two albums so far. Under Soil and Dirt was released in 2011 and What You Don’t See was released in 2013.
Both albums have been released to both critical acclaim and commercial success. Under Soil and Dirt spawned two of the bands biggest singles, respectively “Quicksand” and “Roam.” What You Don’t See debuted at #46 on the Billboard 200 chart, and spawned popular single “Empty Space.”
The Story So Far have toured all across the world. The places toured by the band include North America, Europe, and Japan. The Story So Far has also played on the Vans Warped Tour.
The band is on the up and up. As leaders of the next generation of punk rock, The Story So Far will be leaders in the years to come.
