On November 27, there was a mass of people gathering outside the doors of Stage AE down in the North Shore.
The British originated band, Sylosis, first took the stage as the opening band. Sylosis consists of John Middleton- lead singer and guitarist, Alex Bailey- rhythm guitarist, Carl Parnell- bass guitar, and Rob Callard- drums. As the aura of the crowd filled the arena, they put on an awesome performance for an opening band.
The next band that was in the line-up was Hellyeah. Hellyeah is a southern themed metal band consisting of the former lead singer of Mudvayne Chad Grey, and the former drummer for Pantera Vinne Paul, lead guitarist Tom Maxwell, bassist Bob Zilla, and rhythm guitarist Greg Tribett. The band had an almost party-like feel while on stage and put on a great live performance.
The next band on the hit list was the Swedish Death Metal band In Flames. The band consists of Anders Friden- vocals, Niklas Engelin- guitar, Peter Iwers- bass, Daniel Svensson- drums, and Bjorn Gelotte- guitar. In Flames’s melodic death metal style was exactly what the crowd needed before the headliner. They put on almost the best show of the night with their amazing harmonic guitar melodies and brutal death growls.
Finally, the band of the night came onto the stage and made Stage AE crumble. Lamb of God consists of Chris Alder- drums, John Campbell- bass guitar, Mark Morton- guitar, Randy Blythe- vocals, and Willie Alder- guitar. From their first steps on stage, opening up with “Desolation” from their 2012 album to their final songs of “Laid to Rest” and “Black Label”, the show was a nonstop barrage of absolute pure metal.
Lamb of God preformed a total of 14 songs with their time on stage and an outstanding encore demanded by the crazed fans at Stage AE.
As they left the stage, the crowd was almost in awe, for they knew that they had just witnessed one of the best metal shows to hit Pittsburgh in some time.
