Julie Heh, Lily Gaston, and Macy Mathias are all smiles at their game against Norwin on Monday night.

The Lady Hawks closed their regular-season with a win Monday night. This came in the form of a 3-0 victory over the Norwin Knights.

Assistant coach Mike Blatz reflected on the game after the win.

“The girls played a very well-organized, disciplined game. After getting off to a quick start with three goals, they managed every aspect of the game,” he said.

Sophomore Artemis Conaboy had two spectacular goals no more than a minute apart.

Senior Lily Gaston played a ball in between the last defenders for Conaboy to face off against the Knight’s keeper and come out with her first goal of the game.

50 seconds later, the Knight’s goalie saved a shot from Lily Gaston; Artemis Conaboy followed up with a one-touch volley rebound into the net.

The Hawks’ third goal was scored by senior Meghan Erfort in 30:00 of the first half. Senior Julie Heh put a cross in front of the net and Erfort volleyed the ball for her first goal of the season.

“It’s great for us to be able to go into playoffs coming off of a big win like tonight’s. We’re excited to see who we match up against in the first round and keep this momentum going while we head into the postseason,” commented senior captain Macy Mathias on the team’s achievements.

JV won 1-0 earlier that evening on a goal scored by freshman River Hendrych-Bondra.

The Lady Hawks now have an overall record of 10-5-1 going into playoffs. The WPIAL will release the playoff schedule on Oct. 20.
