The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 5-1. The game was played in Pittsburgh on Sunday night. Three goals in 71 seconds are how this hockey club pulled off this victory.
The Pens came out very strong in the first scoring three goals in 1 min 11 seconds. New York scored once in the first.
After a scoreless second period, the Pens got two more goals in the third period to defeat the Rangers 5-1.
Pittsburgh put on a great show in the early seconds of the first period. They made a statement to the whole NHL community about how strong their team is looking right now.
The five goals were scored by Kasperi Kapanen, Evgeni Malkin, Zach Aston-Reese, John Marino, and captain Sidney Crosby. Kapanen also had two assists along with his goal to record three points tonight.
Casey DeSmith had a good game by saving 23/24 shots faced. He had some great breakaway saves this game.
New York’s only goal was scored by Mika Zibanejad. Goaltender Alexander Georgiev for the Rangers got pulled after he allowed three goals in only 71 seconds.
The Penguins play the Rangers again Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Another important game to win to move up in the standings.
