The Hawks looked to check off their first win of the season as they took on one of the top teams in the state last Friday night. The undefeated Indians had a lot of talent returning this year, while Bethel Park only had one returning starter from the previous season.
Peters got on the board quick scoring on the first drive of the game. This became the story of the contest as the Black Hawks had trouble stopping them all night.
Bethel Park had some tough breaks, like when a 70-yard touchdown from Troy Volpatti was called back by a holding penalty. They also got stopped by a goal-line stand inside the 5-yard line unable to put points on the board. The bad beats continued as a deflected pass was tipped right to a Peter’s wide receiver converting a turnover into a touchdown.
Bethel Park was able to put a nice drive together resulting in a short passing touchdown from Max Blanc to Gavin Moul. As the Hawks looked to gather momentum Peters was given a touchdown as a fumbled snap at the one-yard line was recovered by the Indians sealing the game.
The talented senior lead Indians top performer on the offensive side of the ball was four-star and Florida Gators commit Donovan McMillon who had two long scores early in the game.
Peters Township improved to 5-0 as they play their last game of the year against West Allegheny. Bethel Park takes on Moon on Friday night at 7 p.m. It is also Senior Night.
