Freshman Eva Blatz looks to pass the ball in the Hawks’ game vs. Canon Mac on Sept. 16.

After a tough section loss to Canon Mac two days earlier, the girls varsity soccer team beat Brashear 10-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Reflecting on the game, senior Molly Hoffman said: “Going back to the basics really allowed us to work on what we needed to improve upon, and we obviously accomplished that during the game, so I think it was a good confidence booster. We reminded ourselves what we are capable of, and we can take that mindset into the next game.”

Braces were scored by Hoffman and sophomore Meghan Erfort. In addition, juniors Olivia Schram, Teagan Mehalko, and Lanie Kauric got goals. Freshman Eva Blatz and sophomores Julie Heh and Macy Mathias also scored a goal apiece.

Senior goalkeeper Abby DeLallo and sophomore goalkeeper Willow Hernishin combined for a clean sheet. Furthermore, the JV team won 5-0.

With the win, the Lady Hawks improve to 2-4 in their section and 4-4 overall. They play again in a section match against Moon Township at home on Saturday. Varsity starts at 1 p.m. and JV follows at 2:30. Support the Hawks in their rise to victory.
