Abby Karstenson makes a big save in the first half of the Lady Hawks’ game vs. Peters Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Despite their valiant efforts, the varsity girls soccer team lost their match Wednesday night to Peters Township, falling 2-0.

“The loss will make us more determined to win our next game,” said junior goalkeeper Abby Karstenson.

Sophomores Lily Gaston and Macy Mathias and junior Teagan Mehalko all had numerous shots on goal. Late in the second half, senior Molly Hoffman had a potential goal. However, Peters’ goalie proved to be a formidable opponent, and the Lady Hawks were unable to breach her defenses.

Several shots were pummeled towards Abby Karstenson. Nevertheless, she made clear she was not about to go down without a fight. Eventually, however, the onslaught proved to be too much, and Peters scored in the twenty-third minute of the first half and added another goal in the second half.

Junior varsity was also overpowered and lost 3-0.

The next opportunity for the girls soccer team to secure a victory will be against Mt. Lebo on their opponent’s turf. The Hawks/ Blue Devils game is on Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by the JV game. Pulverize them, Lady Hawks!!
