Hawks suffer second loss to the Panthers

The Lady Hawks lost again to the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Tuesday, Oct. 10 in this section match. They fell in three straight sets in enemy territory.

The girls lost 14-25, 13-25, and 22-25. They fought hard in the third but were unable to close in order to force the fourth set.

Erin Sullivan led the team in kills again with eight followed by Stephanie Kazalas (6) and Brenna Manko (4). But this was not enough compared to Upper St. Clair’s outside hitter duo of Alex Amos and Isabelle Walsh; both are committed to playing at D1 schools. Amos, who will join her sister at Duke University in the fall, had nine kills, and Walsh, who will play for Saint Louis University next year, had 26 total kills. The Panthers’ efforts lead by these two seniors was just too much more the Hawks.

The Lady Hawks are now 7-6 overall, 5-4 in section, and 2-2 in non-section.

The JV team beat the Panthers 2-1. They are now 10-3 overall.*

The girls travel to Mount Lebanon on Thursday, Oct. 12 for their second meeting of the season and another Pink Out game. They will return to the Nest next week, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, one final time this regular season to face Canon McMillan once more and for Senior Night. Word on the street is that the Drumline may make an appearance, so come out and support the seniors and the team!

Ra Ra Hawks!
