Lady Hawks rise above the Panthers

The Lady Hawks picked up a big section win at home on Thursday, Jan. 5 against the Upper Saint Clair Panthers.

The 49-34 victory gave Bethel their 7th win of the season and their first section win.

Even though the girls’ team came out slower than usual, they were able to take the lead within 3 minutes of the second quarter. Senior Becca Rodriguez gave the team the spark they were looking for after she hit a 3-pointer.

Rodriguez had a career high of 20 points to end the night, while Maddie Dziezgowski had 10 points along with 6 rebounds, Kam Lach ended with 8 points and 3 assists, and Ashley Spence had 6 points as well as 6 rebounds.

The varsity team has been working almost every day to get where they want to be later on in the season. Behind the scenes is where they gain the confidence they need for the game.

The team’s saying, Whatever It Takes, is a reminder every day that everyone has to be willing to do anything in order for the team to win sections and make it to playoffs. This team has a lot to be proud of already this season.

The Lady Hawks are now 7-3 overall and are hoping to get their second section win on Monday, Jan. 9 against the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils, another archrival.
