Lady Hawks succumb to Peters

The girls’ varsity team lost a section showdown in double overtime against Peters Township on Monday, Jan. 2. The Hawks were leading the Indians at halftime, but Peters was able to comeback and tie it up. The game was taken into a four-minute overtime, where the Lady Hawks came a few seconds short of winning the game from a buzzer-beater three-pointer by junior Kam Lach. As the shot went in and out, the whole gym knew it was headed to double overtime. The game went on for another four minutes where the Hawks fell short and ended up losing 57-50.

Despite the Hawks’ low percentage from the foul line and the number of turnovers, Kam Lach shot lights out, ending the game with 23 points; she was the leading scorer.

Dziezgowski and Spence got a handful of rebounds and Rodriguez and Cerro played great defense. Acker, Papalia and Mullen all came off the bench ready to play when needed to.

There’s not much to say after a section loss. The ladies will get back in the gym and work harder and worry about the Upper St. Clair game.

The Lady Hawks will face off against the Panthers at home on Thursday, Jan. 5.
