Lady Hawks fly over West A

The girls’ varsity basketball team went on the road and beat West Allegheny 49-30 on Monday, Dec. 19, improving the Lady Hawks to 3-1 on their season.

“We played well; we had good defensive stops and shared the ball well,” Becca Rodriguez, a senior starter, said.

Senior Justina Mascaro, who plans to return from injury next month, said, “We played awesome team defense and we shared the ball really well. Great team win. It helped boost our morale from the tough loss at Norwin.”

Freshman Maddie Dziezgowski was the leading scorer of the night finishing with 16 points along with 13 rebounds.

Kam Lach, a junior guard, scored 12 points and had 4 assists.

Maria Cerro, a starting sophomore guard, ended the game with 9 points and 5 assists.

The Lady Hawks are currently in 3rd place in Section 3, WPIAL Class 6A.

They will face Trinity at home on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and then travel to Shaler on Thursday, Dec. 22 to finish off their week.
