Bad Bunny is heading to Santa Clara
After completing his 31-concert-date Puerto Rico residency, the Latino superstar was revealed as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX halftime show in 2026. This was announced Sunday, Sept. 28, during Sunday Night Football, after Apple Music released a post to tune into NBC for a special announcement regarding the halftime show.
The NFL posted a short video on Sunday featuring Bad Bunny wearing a Puerto Rican straw hat and sitting on a goalpost to the tune of “Debi Tirar Más Fotos.” The song speaks to the reality that Puerto Ricans must leave their home if they want to live a good life. Immigrants of all origins have embraced it as an anthem.
He celebrated the opportunity in an interview with Apple Music and the NFL, saying, “This is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
Bad Bunny has become one of the world’s most-streamed artists and is leading all nominees at the Latin Grammys in November. He has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He has become a global ambassador for Latin music as well.
Rumors of Bad Bunny headlining the show circulated online a month before this announcement. His large fanbase hypothesized when he would be in the area after finishing his performances in Puerto Rico, but ultimately gave up, and it became only a hope that he would be performing the halftime show.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” he said in an interview, “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown…Ve y dile a tu abuela que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
This isn’t Bad Bunny’s first Super Bowl appearance. At the Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime show in 2020, he made a guest appearance with Shakira and J. Lo’s performance, performing his verse from the Cardi B hit track “I Like It.” Then Shakira and he played a remix of her song “Chantaje” and his track “Callaita.” His performance brought up positive reviews, which may have been a step toward the decision for him to headline his own performance.
If anything, the halftime performance will be on fire for this upcoming Super Bowl!
