Hawk Eye’s own Chris Geikler was recently congratulated for his outstanding work of art, which is showcased on the art display in the hallway of Floor 1.
The assignment was to make an abstract imagery piece for the Art and Science class. The art part of the class is taught by Mrs. Palumbo and the science is taught by Mrs. Pritz.
Geikler named his piece “‘Arthur.” He used papier-mâché, string, cotton, tape, and paint to portray a beautiful display of general reptiles. In this piece, he displayed iguanas, a snake, and a horned lizard that squirts blood out of its eye as a strategy for self-defense.
He used a thick string to portray a snake slithering across the paper. For the horned lizard eye, he used a matted ball of cotton with yellow and red paint. He also used tape for texture for the reptile scales.
Geikler said, “I draw a lot of cartoons for the newspaper, so making cartoons for the paper helps me express emotion.” This helps him put expression into all of his work of art.
From seeing how talented Chris Geikler is, whether he’s working on a cartoon for the newspaper or working on a piece of art for his art class, we can expect to see many more outstanding pieces from him.
