Coldplay’s new album cover resembles Bring Me the Horizon’s Sempiternal
Coldplay has recently released a new album, A Head Full of Dreams, and the cover looks like a remake of Sempiternal, an album made by the band Bring Me The Horizon in 2013.
Using the same logo and art style as the BMTH album, it might seem as if Coldplay copied them.
However, Oliver Sykes, lead singer of BMTH, isn’t too worried. In an article written by Luke Morgan Britton for NME.com, Sykes said, in reaction to the ‘copying’ of album covers, “I’ve no idea, at the end of the day it’s not our symbol, it’s a very old symbol.
“They might not have known at first, but obviously if you Google ‘flower of life,’ the first thing that comes up is ‘Bring Me The Horizon – Sempiternal,’ it’s like, if you Google the images, someone’s gonna have said something to them, so whether it was intentional or not, it is the same.”
Towards the end of the interview, Sykes said, “It’s not ours, it’s kind of cool really, it’s a cool, thing that a band that big are also gonna be sharing that with people.”
