Michaela Isenberg is this week’s Unique Talent Tuesday.

This just in: sophomore student Michaela Isenberg is taking the world on by storm with her incredible voice!

Not only does Michaela play fast pitch softball, but she is also actively involved in musicals all over the city! You may have seen her in one of the school’s musicals, such as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in eighth grade, or as Georgia Hendricks and Jessica Cranshaw in the upcoming high school production, Curtains.

When asked when she first started her musical career, Michaela  said, “I have been singing since I was like five, maybe even sooner.”

“My mom actually signed me up for a voice class and that’s how it all started,” she added.

In eighth grade, Michaela won the Nancy Gleason Gavola Award for Drama at the middle school.

When asked if her early involvement and exposure to singing had an effect on her and on where she is today, Michaela said, “Oh yeah, definitely. If I didn’t start when I did, I don’t know if I ever would have started.”

Michaela is involved with The Center for Theater Arts, where she has the role of Lucy Dunn in the musical 13.

“I love performing for audiences and seeing their reactions and seeing how much they like and enjoy the show,” Michaela commented.

Although she has been performing on stage since she was very young, she said, “I still get nervous to be honest, like really nervous.”

When asked what she liked about singing, Michaela said, “Oh my gosh…everything. It’s an indescribable feeling.”

“My role model for singing is 100% Christina Aguilera. She has always been my favorite singer and performer since I was eight.”

Michaela wanted to tell other students, “When you get up on stage, don’t freak out or overreact before you go on stage just try and stay calm. Make sure to take deep breathes and take your time, don’t rush through anything just because you are nervous.”

When asked what has been her most memorable moment in her singing career, she said, “It would have to be when I played Mimi for the musical Rent at The Center for Theater Arts. She was my favorite role to play, singing wise, that I have ever played.”

Hawk Eye got the chance to ask Michaela what her ultimate dream is in her musical career, and she said, “I would love to be on Broadway.”

Michaela plans on continuing her music career even after all of her high school fame days.

“I plan to go to school for musical theater.”

Michalea said that if other students want to start singing, “…just do it. It will make your life so much more exciting and thrilling knowing you are doing what you love to do.”

Michaela is joining eighteen other BPHS vocalists to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s District Chorus Concert on Friday, Feb. 5 at Penn Hills High School.

Also, make sure to look for her as Georgia Hendricks and Jessica Cranshaw on March 2 through March 5 in the high school auditorium for Curtains.

Keep on singing, Michaela!
